The Condensed Explorer Tour: All the History in Just One Hour!

The tour takes place in the 86-year-old Deep Tunnel Shelters. Join our experienced guides as they explain the origins, construction, and use of the system, highlighting the significant role the shelters played in protecting the inhabitants of Ramsgate during the Second World War.

Our Condensed Explorer Tour will give you all the information and the historical experience of a regular tour in just one hour. This tour is perfect if you have time constraints or simply prefer to experience the Tunnels in a shorter session, avoiding the full 1.5 hours plus of the usual explorer tour.

• We journey to the deepest part of the network at Arklow Square, covering a shorter distance of approximately 0.36 miles (0.3 km) in total.

Important Tour Information

• Due to the uneven and occasionally rough nature of the tunnel floor, sensible shoes should be worn tour.
• Warm clothing is strongly encouraged as the temperature remains at a constant 11ºc.
• Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
• If purchasing a Carers ticket you must present proof of your status when you check in otherwise you may be charged full price.
• We recommend that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the tour departs, 30 minutes if you wish to visit the museum.
• Please be respectful to other visitors by arriving on time for the start of your tour.

There is a council pay and display car park adjacent to the tunnel entrance, we advise you to download the RingGo app before arrival, although there may be free parking available on the cliff top nearby, please allow 2 hours parking for your visit. There are no toilets available within the tunnels although public toilets are located a short distance from the tunnel entrance.

We require at least 48 hours' notice for tickets to be cancelled, after this period, tickets are non-refundable.
