About this event
Your tour will take place in the 150 year old Victorian Railway Tunnel.
All visitors to the Tunnels will be required to wear a facemask during their tour; exceptions will apply to those with medical conditions and children below the age of 11. Facemasks are available at the Tunnel entrance for a small donation although you are welcome to wear your own. Visitors are asked to respect social distancing whilst visiting the tunnels.
Due to the uneven and occasionally rough nature of the tunnel floor, sensible shoes should be worn for the 1.5 mile underground tour and it is not recommended for those unsteady on their feet or for children under the age of 5. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to admit wheelchairs or prams and buggies. Whilst there will be torches available, visitors can bring their own.
Your ticket allows you up to 30 minutes to browse our small museum before your tour begins with a short film. During your tour you will hear about the construction of each tunnel, and how they were used for a very different purpose during the Second World War when a small town evolved beneath Ramsgate.
Please allow 2-2.5 hours for your visit. There is a council pay and display car park adjacent to the tunnel entrance although there may be free parking available on the cliff top nearby. There are no toilets available within the Tunnels although Public Toilets are located a short distance from the Tunnel entrance.
